Take a look at these ‘before and after’ pictures. These are three of Victoria’s Secret’s models. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio.
Look at the massive difference between the top set of pictures and the bottom set. Pretty drastic, right?
Are the ‘after’ pictures more beautiful than the ‘before’ pictures? Of course not. These ladies are beautiful with or without makeup and photoshopping. But these pictures have a lot to say.
How many times have you opened a magazine or a catalog and wished you looked like the models inside? How many times have you, whether you wanted to or not, judged your self-worth on how closely your face, your body, your clothes matches the ones you see on TV or in print?
Pictures like this are a much-needed reminder that no one, not even Victoria’s Secret Angels, truly looks the way that they’re represented. Having uneven skin, messy hair, dark circles, chapped lips, pudge all that stuff is 100% normal. Just because you don’t have the money to airbrush these so-called ‘imperfections’ away does not make you any less amazing! It does not impact your self-worth at all.
Please remember to constantly question what you see in the media. Please remember that none of it is an accurate representation, and most of it is researched and designed to make you feel bad. Why? So you’ll go out and spend money to try to ‘fix’ yourself. It’s all about money. But you don’t need to be fixed! These girls are beautiful either way.
And so are you.

Ok, this is seriously one of the coolest things I’ve come across. This little device acts as an ultra-awesome pedometer. It not only tracks your steps, but it also tells you how many calories you’ve burned throughout the day. You also wear it when you’re sleeping and it will tell you all about your sleep patterns. It’s $100 and comes in these two colors. You can also interact with it online and on your phone to log your calorie intake and all that good stuff. Could be a very useful tool to keep you on track and allow you to look back and see what worked well for you and what didn’t on your road to being fit.
Love these two!

After spending a few days in this beautiful and unique city, I cannot wait to go back! I spent a lot of time alone in New Orleans because I was with my mom who was there for work. While it is a lot more fun to be able to travel with other people and enjoy each others’ company while being complete tourists, I had so much fun exploring on my own. We stayed in the French Quarter which is filled with so much culture. It was originally built by the French, but when a fire burnt down a good part of it, the Spanish rebuilt it. Every building is unique. It’s so fun how the majority of the buildings have balconies overlooking the streets. We were there during a huge college football championship game and the city was nuts. Bourbon Street was packed with people in their respective teams’ colors and jerseys. Beads were being thrown from the balconies above. People were walking around with beers and mixed drinks (because it’s legal to do so in New Orleans!) It was just a crazy city filled with amazing people. It’s true what they say about Southern Hospitality. One of these years I’ll make it down for Mardi Gras and experience just how crazy this great city can get!

It’s scary to think that as the years go on there’s more and more beauty that people are missing. We are so distracted with technology (cell phones, lap tops, wifi, television) that we rarely stop and appreciate the beauty that is around us. My challenge to you is this: ignore technology for some part of your day. Put the phone down when you’re having a meal with your friends or family. Turn off the TV and play with your animals. Put away the GPS and explore a new part of your town. You’ll start to see that beauty surrounds us!

Most runway models meet the BMI criteria for anorexia’, claims plus-size magazine in powerful comment on body image in the fashion industry.
A magazine dedicated to plus-size fashion and models has sparked controversy with a feature claiming that most runway models meet the Body Mass Index criteria for anorexia.
Accompanied by a bold shoot that sees a nude plus-size model posing alongside a skinny ‘straight-size’ model, PLUS Model Magazine says it aims to encourage plus-size consumers to pressure retailers to better cater to them, and stop promoting a skinny ideal.
Size 12 (U.S.) model Katya Zharkova, 28, stars in the shoot, which has a powerful statistic accompanying each image.

This blog discourages the use of programs to edit images and alter the reality of the people displayed. In a time where everything can be edited, it's time to get back to what's real.
